So what is IEEE? IEEE is short for Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers. IEEE JMI is a very reputed Student's Branch of this great institution. More information about IEEE can be found at IEEE.org
After doing fairly well at the R10 student website contest, IEEE Jamia Millia Islamia has now bagged the runners up position at the international student website contest organised by the IEEE Head Quarters. Our sincerest thanks to all who made this possible. This includes all contributors, authors and most importantly our members who helped us develop this great online niche of ours.
This comes as a big motivational push as we start off with our work to prepare for the 2010 R10 student website contest! Here's hoping we can improve on our current position and do well this year. Thank you all for your support so far.

IEEE-JMI Executive Committee-2010 candidates selected for interview:
A highly interactive and successful talk was held by Karan Sakhuja, Student of 7th Semester, Mechanical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia, for first year and second year students on 19th October 2009.
Karan shared is in-depth knowledge and experience on internship opportunities with the students. Various aspects of internships was discussed starting from how to apply, where to apply, when to apply and the different kinds of internship opportunities that various institutions and companies offer to the students. He stressed on the very importance of such internships as on-field experience, research abilities and company exposure goes a long way in improving future aspects, in case of both further studies as well as placements.
The session was attended by a large number of first year and second year student. The students found the talk highly beneficial and informative and were enlightened on the entire internship process and procedure. The session will soon be followed up with more talks, with the aim of helping IEEE members shape a better future.

Celebration follows victory and this is what that was recently witnessed by the IEEE Student Branch of Jamia Millia Islamia.
The Certificate distribution ceremony was organized in presence of Kerala Section Mr.Gopakumar, who currently works as a scientist at VSSC. The ceremony began with a welcome address by Dr. Mini S. Thomas, Branch counselor IEEE JMI and the R10 SAC. She emphasized on how the hard work of the coordinators and the volunteers had helped in the success of ENCOMIUM ‘09. She also praised the devotion of the organizers that they had put into organizing the event which saw the participation of over 800 students from about 40 colleges.
The welcome address was followed by an address by Mr.Gopakumar who talked about his experiences as an IEEE member. He enlightened the students with his journey in IEEE, how not even being a teacher by profession, he had taught a lot to students through the responsibilities entrusted in him by the IEEE. Plus he elaborated on the role he played in the forming of the Kerala Section which is now among the most active IEEE sections in India.
Towards the culmination of the event, it was time to cheer the hard working organizing team for all the hard work they had done. The certificates to the coordinators and volunteers of various events were distributed by Mr. S. Gopakumar. Certificates were also awarded to the Publicity, Infrastructure and Corporate teams.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Soumya Bhatia, Vice Chair, IEEE JMI.
