The Power Engineering Society (PES) was responsible for organizing a trip to the National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd. - Badarpur on the 3rd of February,2007. NTPC off late has been a major force to reckon within the Indian Power Sector.

The trip saw an overwhelming response from the students. The group of students left the college premises by 9:40 am in the morning, keeping in mind the fact that this trip could prove to be a fillip to their careers in the Power Engineering sector.

On reaching, after a brief introduction about the trip the students were taken to the water treatment section. The anion and cation exchangers were also a part of the section. After this, the major attraction was the place where downloading of coal took place. Then students were taken to the ESP (Electro-Static Precipitator section). Following which they were taken to the boiler section which was succeeded by the inspection of the structure operating the conveyer belt. After the Production section it was the turn of the Distribution section which was a combination of current and voltage transformers along with the transmission lines.

This was carried out within a time span of about two and a half hours and the students were back to college by1:30 pm. The trip organized by PES received an excellent feedback from the students who wanted to be a part of trips which would be held in the future. Overall it was a learning experience for the students, both in the academic sector and the organizing ability sector. The PES representatives made a sincere effort to help students acquire knowledge through a link by the name IEEE-JMI.
